Privacy policy

1. The short version

• Mockinto is a practice tool for mock interviews. We collect what we need to run your account, write your questions, transcribe your answers and write your report.
• We keep the text of your answers and your reports. We do not keep recordings of your voice.
• We never see your card or UPI details. Razorpay handles payments.
• Your résumé, job descriptions, questions, answers and reports are processed by an AI provider, OpenAI, to generate questions and reports.
• This website loads Google and Meta tags on every visit, and it has no cookie banner or opt-out control yet. The section on tags and cookies explains how to limit them.
• You can ask us to access, correct or delete your data, and to deal with a complaint, by writing to support@mockinto.com.

2. About this policy

Mockinto (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides AI mock-interview practice through this website, a web app and mobile apps. The mobile apps are not public yet. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we use it, who handles it and what rights you have.

It is our notice to you under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”) and the rules under it, and our privacy policy under the Information Technology Act, 2000 (the “IT Act”) and the rules framed under it. For the personal data you give us, we are the “data fiduciary” and you are the “data principal”.

By creating an account and using Mockinto, you consent to us processing your personal data for the purposes in this policy. Your consent covers those purposes only. You can withdraw it at any time (see Your rights). Our Terms of Service also apply.

Mockinto is a practice tool only. It is not affiliated with any employer and does not promise you a job or an interview result.

3. Who can use Mockinto

Mockinto is for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you think a person under 18 has given us their data, write to support@mockinto.com and we will delete it.

4. What we collect

• Account details: your email address, your name, and your password or sign-in details. You may also add optional profile details, such as a phone number.
• Your inputs: your résumé (a PDF, and we store its content) and any job descriptions you paste.
• Your interviews: your spoken answers as text transcripts, the questions you were asked and the reports written from them.
• Credits: your credit balance and a ledger of credits added and used.
• Payment records: the Razorpay order ID, payment ID, amount and number of credits. Your card or UPI details go to Razorpay and never reach us.
• Support messages: what you write to us so we can help. If you use a contact form, the email address you enter is used only to reply and is not stored.

We do not keep recordings of your voice. Your voice and speech-to-text explains how speech becomes text. Tags and cookies on this website covers information that the tags on this website collect.

5. Why we use your data

• To create and run your account, and to send you verification codes and service notices.
• To write interview questions from your résumé or a job description, turn your answers into text and write your report.
• To manage your credits and take payments.
• To answer your support messages.
• To stop the free sign-up credits being claimed repeatedly (see How long we keep your data).
• To understand how this website is used and to measure our advertising (see Tags and cookies on this website).
• To meet our legal obligations, such as keeping payment and tax records.

6. Your voice and speech-to-text

There are two ways your spoken answer becomes text.

• In the web app, your browser’s own speech service converts your speech to text. In Chrome, that service is Google’s.
• In the mobile apps, and as a fallback on the web, your answer is recorded and sent to our server. Our server sends the audio to OpenAI only to be transcribed. We keep the text and we do not keep the audio.

Interview questions are read aloud using OpenAI text-to-speech. For this, the text of the question is sent to OpenAI.

7. AI processing

OpenAI processes your résumé text, job descriptions, interview questions, answers and reports so that Mockinto can generate questions and reports. This processing takes place on OpenAI’s servers, which may be outside India.

Reports are written by an AI model. They can be wrong and are meant for practice.

8. Tags and cookies on this website

This website (www.mockinto.com) uses Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Google Ads and Meta Pixel. They load every time a page is opened. We use them to see which pages are used and to measure our advertising. They can use cookies and similar technologies, and they receive information about your visit, such as the pages you view and details of your browser and device.

There is currently no cookie banner or opt-out control on this website. You can still limit these tags:

• Use your browser’s settings to block or delete cookies, or turn on its tracking protection.
• Use a content blocker or a browser extension that blocks trackers.
• Manage Google’s ad personalisation in Google Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com).
• Manage how Meta uses your activity for ads in Meta’s ad preferences (facebook.com/adpreferences).

9. Who else handles your data

We use these providers to run Mockinto. Each handles your data only for the job described.

• OpenAI: generates questions and reports, transcribes audio and reads questions aloud (see speech-to-text and AI processing).
• Google: your browser’s speech service in Chrome, and Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads on this website.
• Meta: Meta Pixel on this website.
• Razorpay: processes payments in INR.
• An email delivery provider: sends verification codes and notices from support@mockinto.com.
• A cloud hosting provider: hosts the website, the apps and their database.

We may also disclose personal data when a law, a court or a government authority requires it.

10. Processing outside India

Some of the providers above, including our AI provider and our cloud hosting provider, may process your data on servers outside India. We transfer personal data outside India only as the law of India permits.

11. How long we keep your data

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete any past interview from your history at any time.

If you ask us to delete your account and we have verified that the request is yours, we delete or anonymise your personal data: your answers, questions, reports, interviews, résumés, job profiles, candidate profile and contact messages. We keep only records that we must keep by law, such as payment and tax records.

One thing we keep after deletion. To stop free sign-up credits being claimed again and again, we keep a one-way hash of a standardised form of your email address, even after you delete your account. A hash is a scrambled value that cannot be turned back into your email address. We use it only to recognise a repeat sign-up.

12. Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:

• Access a summary of the personal data we process about you and how we process it, and know which other parties we have shared it with.
• Correct inaccurate or misleading data, complete incomplete data and update data that has changed.
• Erase your personal data, unless we need to keep it for a legal reason.
• Withdraw consent at any time. This is as easy as giving it: you can delete your account, or write to us. Features that need your data will stop working. Withdrawing does not affect what we did before.
• Grievance redressal: have a complaint heard and resolved (see Complaints and the Data Protection Board).
• Nominate another person to exercise these rights for you if you die or cannot act for yourself.

To use a right, write to support@mockinto.com from the email address you signed up with. We may ask you to confirm it is you before we act. The law also asks you to give accurate information and not to make false or frivolous complaints.

13. Security

We use technical and organisational safeguards that we consider reasonable for a service like ours, in line with the reasonable security practices and procedures that the IT Act and its rules expect. No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise that your data will never be accessed without permission.

If a personal data breach affects you, we will tell you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.

14. Complaints and the Data Protection Board

If you have a concern about your personal data, write to support@mockinto.com. We will acknowledge your message within 48 hours and resolve it within one month.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India. The DPDP Act expects you to use our grievance process first.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top of this page shows when it last changed. If a change matters to you, for example a new purpose for your data, we will tell you before it applies, in a way that suits the change, such as an email or a notice in the app.
